Fredonia is one of those communities that once you visit you will want to settle here for a lifetime.  Just minutes from the shores of Lake Erie it is surrounded by vineyards and rolling hillsides.   Fredonia is full of history, education and recreational opportunities  for every age. 

This quaint village with a population of 11,000 is known for having drilled the first successful gas well in the country with the first natural gas company being formed in 1858.  Fredonia is also known  for having the first dues-paying grange in the country  with the original building, Grange Hall #1,  still standing on Main Street.  Whether  you are a history buff  or just take an interest in local lore,   the historical society and the Barker Library are good places to gather information. 

Education plays a big role in culture of Fredonia.  The SUNY campus is located in the heart of the village and is one of the top notch schools in the state university system.  The college offers educational opportunities for people of all ages from seeking  a degree or taking courses as a “life-long learner”.  The campus is surrounded by beautiful homes and wonderful neighborhoods making access  convenient and safe.
